How not to host a gothic tea party
what’s immense, right

is the official remix of ‘We Belong Together’ by Mariah Carey YES I KNOW IT IS SEVEN THOUSAND YEARS OLD BUT I AM LISTENING TO IT RIGHT NOW IE: TIMETRAVELLING SO SHUT UP. Anyway, it’s essentially a set of tricks pulled out of one bag and flung haphazardly into another but from the 90s beat to the crunk shouting, it’s a really good example of the sort of semi-retro summer song that happens every year, whilst sounding absolutely fresh and 2010, which given 2010 has sounded like whingeing emo and dodgy eurosamples, is pretty impressive.

Also managing to take a song as colossally melodramatic as ‘We Belong Together’s brilliant, heartbreak-hysteria (WBT is one of my favourite songs ever and I care not if that makes me a huge sap) and turn it into a really subdued, bubbling piece of melancholy is no small achievement. Well done everyone involved! I would link to a YouTube but I think it’s blocked on my werknet.
